Structure of the PEB
The Patent Examination Board (PEB) is a committee of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys but is unique among CIPA’s committees in that it operates independently of Council and is governed by its own Governance Board.
What it does
The PEB is responsible for offering the examinations for both stages of the qualification to become a patent attorney:
- Foundation stage: The PEB Foundation Certificate consists of five examinations.
- Final stage: The PEB Final Diploma consists of four examinations.
How it operates
The PEB operates independently of CIPA’s Council and is accountable for its own activities. The PEB is made up of a Governance Board an Examination Committee and is staffed by CIPA.
